R. Scott McCoy was born on Kodiak Island and grew up in Northern Minnesota. After graduating from Bemidji High School, much to his and his parents surprise, he went into the Army. He eventually became an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and later in the Army Reserve, transition to be an Interrogator/Russian Linguist and Psychological Operations Specialist. He has a Bachelors in Russian Area Studies with a minor in Russian Language and Literature and a Masters degree in Management. During the day, he is a security professional with proficiency in Physical, Corporate, Industrial and IT Security as well as being well versed in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery. He is an adjunct instructor at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota teaching a variety of Bachelors and Masters courses.
At night and on the weekends, when not spending time with his family or wasting time on his Xbox, he writes. What comes out is a combination of horror and thriller with a little bit of humor blended together. He currently has over 25 short story credits and two novels. Feast came out through Shroud Publishing in 2009, and The White Face Bear came out through Belfire Press in 2010. he is currently working on the follow up of both novels.
Scott is also the owner of the small press Stygian Publications and was the Editor in Chief of Necrotic Tissue, which ran from 2007-2011 and put out 14 quarterly issues.
